Recipe Seven: Fizzy Milk

Still looking for something fun to do? This experiment is short, easy and interesting to try - with surprisingly easy clean up! It only took about 30 seconds to set up, and another 30 seconds until the fizzing began. We had so much fun playing around with the food colouring, so if you liked the Marbled Milk Art project, you'd love this one too!

This milk project would be perfect to try with kids, but it was also entertaining for my boyfriend and I, who are in our mid-twenties! It's always fun to mix colours and see how it turns out - and with this experiment, you can then watch your colour creation fizz!

Tip: Try adding more or less baking soda / vinegar for different results - even after the inital fizz wears off!

Ingredients & Process

You Will Need:

  • 1-2 Cups of Chosen Dairy
  • A Couple Tablespoons of Baking Soda
  • 1/2 cup - 1 cup of Vinegar
  • Food Colouring
  • Dish Soap
  • Cotton Swab

Instructions

  1. Pour milk into a shallow bowl (we used a small mixing bowl)
  2. Place bowl in a deep pan or in sink to make clean up easier
  3. Add in food colouring droplets
  4. Absorb dish soap with cotton swab and begin swirling in milk mixture
  5. Add in baking soda
  6. Add in vinegar (when you're ready for the fizz)
  7. Enjoy and keep on experimenting!
