Recipe Five: Milk Jug Bird Feeder
After completing all of these fun recipes, you may be left with an empty jug. This project is perfect who those who love bird watching, or for those with bored cats at home. This fun and customizable project is easy to do and will bring hours of bird watching joy!
I was super excited to try this project out and feed some birds! I placed my bird feeder on a side table on our balcony and it started bringing visitors in almost immediately. My cats loved sitting by the window and watching the wildlife it attracted.
Tip: Position near a window for you or your cats to bird watch during down time!

You Will Need:
- Milk jug
- Scissors
- Perch material for birds (wooden stick or popsicle stick)
- Adhesives (glue)
- Hanging materials (bendable wire or twine)
- Birdseed
- Decorating material (stickers, paint, whatever you want!)
Instructions:
- Wash the inside of the jug and cap, rinse it well and remove the label
- Use scissors to cut out windows into the jug. Don’t cut too low or you will loose seed storage space!
- Use scissors to poke two holes near the top of the cap, this will be used for the hanger (if you want to hang it)
- Place your hanger in the two holes and cut to desired length
- Add in a resting perch is desired (either glue on or for more durability poke 2 holes into the jug and slide the stick in)
- Decorate! If using stickers, go over with glue or modpodge to protect them!
